Naturalist & Artist
Robyn Muche is a Sydney born & trained commercial artist who has been surrounded by animals for most of her life. She & her husband, sculptor Bodo Muche, reside in rural Queensland at their Brisbane River Valley property, “Mt Glenhowden”.
The former research assistant to a NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service veterinarian early in her career took off for Africa to sketch its wildlife whilst working as an assistant at Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa. During her travels she found herself painting backgrounds and illustrating publications for the Botswana National Museum & Art Gallery, Gaberone, Botswana. On returning to Australia she became an exhibitions artist & illustrator for the Australian Museum and Taronga Zoo in Sydney and thereafter for Queensland Museum, Brisbane. She has undertaken private commissions and collaborative natural history publications. Together with Zimbabwean born paleobotanist and author, Mary White, she illustrated the Australian Prehistoric Natural History Series of children’s books. From this series, “The Muttaburrasaurus”, was nominated for the Book Council of Australia’s Childrens’ Book of the Year. Always having been interested in photography, the arts and natural history, she relies on her two daughters, Tania Warriner & Carley Walker. also artists & naturalists, & grand daughters, Saxony and Elsa Walker as sounding boards for her illustrative works.
A partner in Bodo Muche Studio Foundry, her collaboration with Cru Digital of Brisbane to design the Bodostudio.com website won the USA based international 2011 Interactive Media Association Outstanding Achievement Award in the category of Arts & Culture. Robyn is currently renovating Naturalistudio.com website; concurrently she is dusting off old pens & paper whilst refocusing the lens on new works as guest artist for 9Anteportas Exhibition in 2012.
